Radiation Therapy – To many people, it is a mystery. To those about to experience it, it offers hope for full recovery.
If you require radiation therapy after a cancer diagnosis, you may take comfort in knowing that quality treatment is available right here in Bluefield.
The PCH Bluefield Radiation Therapy Department is equipped with a high energy linear accelerator which allows us to offer:
• IMRT(Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy)
• High energy photon treatments
• Multiple electrons energies for shallow lesions.
At high doses, radiation therapy kills cancer cells or slows their growth by damaging their DNA. Cancer cells whose DNA is damaged beyond repair stop
dividing or die. When the damaged cells die, they are broken down and removed by the body.
The Radiation Therapy team including our Radiation Oncologist, Radiation Therapy nurse, Radiation Therapist, and Radiation Physicist, will customize a treatment plan to meet your specific need.
